Understanding and Treating Binge Eating Disorder:

An Evidence-Based Integrative Approach

This workshop will cover diagnosing Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and understanding the clinical features of BED. Conceptual models for understanding the development and maintenance of BED will be discussed including Cognitive Behavioural, Affect Regulation, and Emotion-Focused approaches. Next an Integrative Treatment Model for BED will be described that includes strategies from Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Case examples will be presented to illustrate key concepts. Small group discussions and experiential exercises will be used throughout.
